Punjab reports 4,189 Covid-19 cases, 45 deaths in 24 hours

Chandigarh: Punjab on Thursday reported 4,189 fresh cases of Covid-19 while 45 persons infected with the coronavirus died in 24 hours. The fresh cases took the overall infection tally to 7,32,135, a daily medical bulletin said. Mohali remained the worst-affected district as it reported 724 new cases of Covid-19 while Ludhiana reported 442 new cases, Jalandhar (239), Hoshiarpur (408), Ferozepur (209), Bathinda (194), Muktsar (191), Moga (165), Amritsar (161), Kapurthala (144), Ropar (139), Fazilka (137), Tarn Taran (119), Gurdaspur (112), Pathankot (103), Faridkot (102), Nawanshahr (100), Patiala (92), Barnala (84), Sangrur (72), Mansa (41) and Fatehgarh Sahib (31). Also Read | Coronavirus update: India reports 2.86 lakh Covid-19 cases in 24 hours As many as 3,21,648 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in different categories, of which 1,44,076 have received their first dose while 1,77,572 have received the second dose. As many as 33,243 in the age group of 15-17 have been inoculated with their first dose while 12,842 have been administered precautionary doses. The new Covid-19 deaths in Punjab were reported from several districts including Gurdaspur, Barnala Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, and Moga. The death toll in the state has increased to 17,129 while the active cases stand at 36,941. A total of 1,185 patients in the state are on oxygen support while 94 critical patients are on ventilator support, the bulletin said. A total of 7,426 people recovered from the coronavirus in Punjab in the last one day, taking the number of those who have recovered to 6,78,065, the bulletin said. Meanwhile, Chandigarh reported 565 Covid-19 cases, taking the total count to 87,983. With three more deaths in the city, the death toll reached 1,108.
