Punjab reports 4,049 fresh Covid-19 cases, 30 deaths in 24 hours
Chandigarh: Coronavirus cases continued to decline for the second consecutive day on Tuesday in Punjab as the state reported 4,049 fresh cases of Covid-19 against 5,778 reported on Monday. Punjab also reported 30 deaths from the virus.
Punjab’s positivity rate dipped to 11.39 percent as against 17.86 percent on Monday, according to a Covid-19 medical bulletin.

Mohali topped the list with 915 new cases of coronavirus, followed by Ludhiana (492), Amritsar (453), Jalandhar (276), Bathinda (212), Fazilka (208), Patiala (193), Hoshiarpur (181).
A total of 35,540 Covid-19 samples were tested in Punjab on Tuesday. Of 30 new Covid deaths, Gurdaspur reported 6 fatalities, Hoshiarpur (5) and Amritsar (4), the bulletin said.
With 6,931 people recovering from coronavirus in Punjab, the number of cured persons has reached 6,63,404 in the state.
As of now, 17,059 persons have lost their lives due to contagious disease in the state. The Covid tally in the state has reached 7,23,052 while the number of active cases shot up to 42,589.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Government has further extended Covid-19 restrictions from January 26 till February 1, 2022. The decision was taken in exercise of powers conferred under Section 2 of the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897.
