Punjab: Meter readers intensify protest, scale water tank outside Speaker's house
Faridkot, August 14: Outsourced meter readers working in PSPCL have been protesting for nearly 4 months outside the house of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan at village Sandhwan in Faridkot district. Intensifying their demonstration, 4 meter readers carried petrol bottles in their hands and staged a protest by climbing on the water tank of the village. According to the information received, the colleagues of the demonstrators have maintained a front under the tank.

Talking to the meter readers, they said that when they protested against the Congress government, Kultar Singh Sandhwan had joined their sit-in.
He said that even in the meetings held with the Power Minister yesterday, the Minister continued to favor the companies. He said that we are not demanding to be permanent; we are demanding that the contractor companies who charge about 9 rupees for a meter reading from PSPCL
Tehsildar Kotakpura Paramjit Singh Brar, who arrived at the demonstration site, said that meter readers have been protesting at Sandhwan for the past several days and today they have climbed the water tank. He said that whatever the demands of the protestors will be conveyed to the government and efforts will be made to resolve this issue soon.
