Punjab logs 2,415 fresh Covid 19 cases, 30 deaths
Mohali, January 31: Punjab on Monday reported 2,415 fresh Covid-19 cases and 30 deaths in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate for coronavirus stands at 8.48 per cent. Two deaths were reported in Amritsar Fazilka-1, Gurdaspur-4, Hoshiarpur-5, Jalandhar-3, Ludhiana-6, Moga-1, Muktsar-2, Patiala1, Sangrur-1, SAS Nagar-2 and SBS Nagar-2. As many as 5478 patients who have recovered from Covid-19 were discharged. The number of active cases is 23,626 while the death toll in the state has mounted to 17,253 As many as 1,058 coronavirus patients are on oxygen support in Punjab while 338 patients are in critical care Level-3 facilities. Meanwhile, to contain the surge of Covid-19, the guidelines issued by the Home Department, Government of Punjab, on January 25, will remain applicable in the state till new orders come into force. Earlier, the Punjab Government had further extended Covid-19 restrictions from January 26 till February 1, 2022. The decision was taken in exercise of powers conferred under Section 2 of the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897. To contain the spread of Covid-19 in Punjab, the government has made social distancing and wearing of masks by all persons in public places, including workplaces, mandatory. Night curfew will remain in force from 10pm to 5 am. The movement of individuals for all non-essential activities shall remain prohibited within municipal limits of all cities and towns of Punjab during this period. Also read | SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia gets protection from arrest in drugs case till Feb 23 However, essential activities, including operation of multiple shifts in industry, offices etc. (both government and private), movement of persons and goods on national and state highways and unloading of cargo and travel of persons to their destinations after disembarking from buses, trains and aeroplanes will be permitted. There shall be no restriction on the movement of raw materials, finished goods, personnel etc related to manufacturing of pharmaceutical drugs, including vaccines and medical devices, diagnostic testing kits etc. -PTC News
