Punjab lifts all Covid-19 restrictions
Chandigarh, March 15: With a continuous decline in fresh Covid-19 cases, the Punjab Government has lifted all restrictions in the state. An official notification states, "In exercise of the powers conferred under section 2 of the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897, read with all other enabling provisions of Disaster Management Act, 2005, in supersession of all previous instructions on the subject, all Covid-19 related restrictions are removed with immediate effect. However, the residents of Punjab are advised to follow Covid-appropriate behavioural norms." On Monday, Punjab witnessed 48 fresh cases of Covid-19, an uptick from the previous day’s 40. No death due to the virus was reported. According to the state media bulletin, Punjab positivity rate stands at 0.37%. Among districts, Jalandhar registered nine cases, followed by six in Patiala and five in Fazilka. With 38 persons recovering from the virus, the number of cured persons in the state has reached 7,40,760. Till now, 17,724 persons have lost their lives to Covid-19. As many as 7,58,649 persons have been found positive in the state so far, while the active was 265 on Monday. -PTC News
