Punjab Govt keeps no reservation category in policy for recruitment of contractual workers
Chandigarh, October 27: Reservation is one of the major issues in India, especially Punjab. Reservation in India is a form of affirmative action designed to improve the well-being of backward and under-represented communities defined primarily by their ‘caste’ but it seems like either Punjab Government made a big mistake or deliberately ignored the reservation category. In the new policy for recruitment of contractual workers issued by Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government to regularise services of 8,736 contractual teachers working in the education department, there seems to be a big mistake in the application form. Notably, the Punjab Government has kept no reservation for 25% backward classes, 12% scheduled castes, 33% women, 13% ex-servicemen and 10 % economically weaker from general. Meanwhile, the implementation of civil service rules has also been considered in the policy. Special Cadre category has been mentioned in the policy to fix the contractual employees. -PTC News
