Punjab governor makes big statement over VC appointment controversy
Chandigarh, October 21: The conflict between Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has further escalated with the former making big statement over controversy of VC's appointment on Friday.
During a press conference, Governor Banwarilal Purohit said that it is the responsibility of the Governor as a Chancellor to all guide and looks after the Universities.

"As Supreme court judgment on VC's appointment, state government cannot interfere in the working of Universities," he said.
He said that before Punjab, he was the Governor of Tamil Nadu where he was the Chancellor of 20 Universities.
"In my tenure, I appointed 27 Vice-Chancellors as per law," he said.
Governor Purohit said that he will take legal opinion on the appointment of Punjab Agriculture University’s vice chancellor Satbir Singh Gosal.
