Punjab Government suspends Bathinda RTA secretary
Chandigarh, May 27: The Punjab Government has suspended Balwinder Singh, Secretary, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Bathinda with immediate effect. The officer will be headquartered in Chandigarh during the period of suspension. On May 16, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar conducted a surprise check at the RTA office, during which he had found certain irregularities in permits and bus timetable. Also Read: Punjab Government transfers 28 jail officers At the time, he had directed Principal Secretary (Transport) Vikas Garg to probe the matter and file a report within a week. The action is learnt to have been taken on the basis of the report. During the suspension, the officer will be headquartered in Chandigarh. These orders have been issued by Chief Secretary Anirudh Tewari and directed to implement them with immediate effect. Transport Minister, S Bhullar instructed the officer to rectify the irregularities and shortfalls immediately, otherwise strict action will be taken against them as no mistakes or irregularities will be tolerated. Meanwhile, earlier on his visit Bhullar also reviewed the condition of Bathinda bus stand, talked to passengers and listened to their problems. The work done in various departments is being investigated. Strict action is being taken against the officer and his accomplices if any irregularities are found after investigation. The AAP government claims that this campaign will continue and strict action will be taken against leaders or officers of Punjab for any corruption case, irregularities or something wrong done by them. -PTC News
