Punjab farmers warn Amarinder government, give 7 days to reject agriculture laws

Punjab Farmers have rejected the Centre's offer to initiate a conversation and resolve the issue. The farmers will continue and intensify their agitation in the next 7 days. 30 farmer unions held a meeting on Wednesday warned the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, that they would stage protests outside the houses of state Congress leaders until or unless the government calls a special Vidhan Sabha session to repeal the Farm Laws passed by the Parliament and later signed by the President Ram Nath Kovind. As per the report, the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Lakhowal) has been barred by other unions from participating in the joint protest. The development comes after BKU approached the Supreme Court of India against the contenting Agriculture Laws, without taking others into confidence. During the meeting held by the 30 farmers union, it was decided that the Lakhowal would only be brought under the joint fold after they formally withdraw the case from the top court. The president of BKU ( Dakaunda), Buta Singh Burjgill, said that they would continue their ongoing agitation. Meanwhile, all the Union leaders have condemned the brutal lathi-charge on protesting farmers in Haryana on Tuesday and announced unconditional support to them. educareReportedly, the President of BKU Rajewa, Balbir Singh Rajewal, said that they will go in for a two hour complete Bandh in Punjab on October 9, between 4-6 pm, supporting the Haryana farmers. -PTC News
