Punjab Elections 2022: PPCC seeks EC permission for Rahul Gandhi's rally in Ludhiana

Ahead of the mega announcement regarding the CM face of the Congress party for Punjab Assembly Elections 2022, the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) on Friday sought permission from the Punjab Chief Electoral Officer for the virtual rally of Rahul Gandhi on Sunday from 12:05 pm to 06:00 pm at Harsheela Resort, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana. The rally would be addressed by Rahul Gandhi and other leaders and star campaigners of the Congress party. The applicant also undertakes that Indian National Congress shall be following the norms as mentioned in the Manual on Model Code of Conduct 2019, Document 1, and shall also be following requisite protocols as mentioned in Laws pertaining to Legislative Elections in Punjab," the letter submitted by PPCC stated. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will announce the party's Chief Ministerial face for the upcoming Punjab Assembly polls on February 6, said party state in charge, Harish Chaudhary on Friday. The party would do so "respecting the sentiments of the Congress workers and people of Punjab". Addressing the media at party headquarters here, Chaudhary said, "Rahul Gandhi will address a virtual rally in Punjab's Ludhiana on February 6 and during the event, he will announce the CM face." He said that respecting the guidelines of the election commission, the candidates of the party from all 117 constituencies will attend the virtual rally by maintaining the gathering at their respective venues as per the permissible limit.
