Chandigarh, January 24: The BJP will contest 65 seats, Captain Amarinder Singh's Punjab Lok Congress 37 seats and Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) 15 seats in the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections, BJP national president JP Nadda said on Monday.
JP Nadda announced the seat sharing agreement at a press conference here at the BJP headquarters in the presence of Punjab Lok Congress supremo Captain Amarinder Singh and Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt)'s Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa.

"I am announcing a broader seat sharing agreement, the BJP will contest on 65 seats, PLC on 37 seats and SAD (Sanyukt) on 15 seats," Nadda said. Captain Amarinder said for the sake of national security and welfare of the state, all three parties had come together.

Nadda said Punjab was a border state and security was a very important issue as far as the Assembly elections were concerned.
