Jalandhar, March 9: Deputy Commissioner-Cum-District Election Officer Ghanshyam Thori on Wednesday stated that the Election Commission of India has banned all victory processions after the counting of votes and candidates participating in the elections must strictly abide by the guidelines issued by the poll body. Giving the details, the DC said that the Election Commission in its directions has prohibited any kind of victory procession on or after counting and added that strict action would be taken against those found violating these guidelines. He further stated that any kind of negligence in this regard would be dealt with strictly. No victory procession after election results The ECI has also limited the number of people who can join winning applicants when they receive their certificates, allowing just two people to accompany the candidate or his or her authorised representative when the certificate of election is being issued. The Deputy Commissioner also reiterated his commitment to free, fair and transparent elections, noting that elaborate arrangements have already been made to achieve this goal. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, he said, two counting halls had been put up for each assembly constituency this year.
