Punjab: Double gold medallist Hari Chand dies aged 69
Hoshiarpur, June 13: Hari Chand (69), long-distance runner who won two gold medals at the 1978 Bangkok Asian Games, died at his native Ghorewaha village in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district on Monday. He was under treatment at Capitol Hospital, Jalandhar. The cremation will be held at Ghorewaha village, near Tanda, in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district on June 14. Later, he won two gold medals at the 1978 Asian Games in Bangkok in the 5000m and 10,000m events. Hari Chand had retired as CRPF Commandant.
