Punjab DGP VK Bhawra says they have leads on Mohali grenade attack; case will be cracked soon
Chandigarh, May 10: Punjab DGP VK Bhawra on Tuesday said the police had leads on the grenade attack at the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali district late Monday evening and they would crack the case soon.
Addressing the media, Punjab DGP VK Bhawra said, “We have leads on the grenade attackand the case is expected to be cracked soon.” On being asked about terror conspiracy, the Punjab DGP said, ‘A rocket-propelled grenade also known as RPG was hurled on the third floor of the building around 8 pm. Luckily, there was nobody in the room, and only the walls were damaged. Trinitrotoluene (TNT) was used in the attack. However, the matter is under investigation.” “It is a challenge before us and we are making all efforts to crack the case. So far, no arrest has been made,” said DGP VK Bhawra. Arocket-propelled grenade or RPG was fired from the street that shattered the glasses at the Punjab Police's intelligence headquarters in Mohali on Monday. The police called it an RPG-like attack and termed the blast a minor one. "A minor explosion was reported at the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in sector 77, SAS Nagar at around 7.45 PM. No damage has been reported. Senior officers are on the spot and an investigation is being done. Forensic teams have been called," the Mohali police said in a statement.
