Punjab CM felicitates 23 Commonwealth Games medallists from state
Chandigarh, August 27: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann felicitated 23 state athletes who won the Commonwealth Games 2022 at Birmingham. Punjab CM Mann honored Punjab medalist in a felicitation ceremony on August 27 in Chandigarh. A total of 23 medalists represented from Punjab in Commonwealth Games. Those 23 athletes includes weightlifter Vikas Thakur; Men’s hockey players Manpreet Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, Akashdeep Singh, Mandeep Singh, Gurjant Singh, Hardik Singh, Varun Kumar, Krishan Pathak, Shamsher Singh, Jarmanjit Singh, and Jugraj Singh; Women cricketers Harmanpreet Kaur, Harleen Deol, and Tania Bhatia won the silver medal. Weightlifters Harjinder Kaur, Lovepreet Singh, Gurdeep Singh and women hockey player Gurjit Kaur clinched bronze medals at the tournament. Jasleen Saini competed in Judo, Navjit Kaur Dhillon in Athletics, and Naman Kapil and Vishwajit Singh represented India in cycling. Meanwhile, athletes are awarded with cash rewards- Rs 50 lakh for CWG silver medalists from the state and Rs 40 lakh for bronze medalists.
