Punjab: CM designate Bhagwant Mann directs DGP to probe killing of cows near Cholang
Chandigarh, March 12: Taking serious note of the incident of killing of cows near Cholang railway crossing in Hoshiarpur district, the Punjab CM designate Bhagwant Mann on Saturday directed the state DGP to conduct a thorough probe and book the culprits of this heinous crime. Giving directions to the DGP, Bhagwant Mann stated that bad elements should refrain from such inhuman acts and the law and order in the state would be maintained at all cost. He further added that none would be allowed to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the state by engaging in such crimes. The Aam Aadmi Party leader also directed the DGP that strict action should also be ensured against those found indulged in the beheading of cows as a deterrent for others indulged in such dastardly crimes. Mann also said that exemplary punishment should be given to the perpetrators of this unpardonable and extremely shocking incident that should be condemned by one and all in the strictest possible words. Notably, the remains of around 17-18 slaughtered cows were allegedly found in Punjab’s Tanda Urmar in Hoshiarpur district on Saturday. The incident has triggered tension in the area. Following the incident, right-wing organisations gathered and sat on a dharna near the site, blocking the Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway. According to locals, the act is appeared to be a well-planned operation since the culprits had allegedly taken away the skin and flesh of the cows and left the remains at the site.
