Punjab CM Capt Amarinder pays homage to Kargil martyrs
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday paid homage to the martyrs of the Kargil War, with a call to youths to join the armed forces to serve the nation. On the 22nd anniversary of the Kargil War, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh laid a wreath at War Memorial, Bougainvillea Garden, in Chandigarh. He saluted the brave sons of Punjab, who laid their lives during the conflict. While interacting with NCC cadets and women cadets of Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, Captain Amarinder Singh exhorted them to join the armed forces to uphold the country’s sovereignty and integrity. Several senior retired and serving defence officers attended the function. The Kargil War, also known as the Kargil conflict, was an armed conflict fought between India and Pakistan from May to July 1999 in Kargil district of Kashmir and elsewhere along the Line of Control (LoC).
