Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann's pics at Aam Aadmi Clinics invite criticism; Brahm Shankar Jimpa clarifies
Mohali, August 15: As many as 75 Aam Aadmi Clinics are all set to be dedicated to people by the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government in Punjab on Independence Day on August 15 (Monday). In the run-up to the Punjab Assembly elections earlier this year, AAP leader and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had stated that if his party came to power in Punjab after the February 20 Assembly elections, the photographs of BR Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh would be put up in all government offices in the state. He had clearly stated that there would be no photograph of any politician in these offices. However, Punjab Cabinet minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa claimed that the photographs of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann have been displayed at AAP Aadmi Clinics on the demand of the people of the state. Targeting previous governments, he said their opponents had put up the pictures of their Chief Minister without work, “though Bhagwant Mann had been doing a lot for the welfare of the state”. Earlier, at one of his rallies in Punjab, Arvind Kejriwal had said, "Photos of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh will be put up in all government offices, so that by looking at these photos, we and the next generation can draw inspiration from them." However, contrary to the call taken by the party only, two photos of Bhagwant Mann have been displayed at each Aam Aadmi clinic.
