Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann inaugurates 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan 2022'
Jalandhar, August 29: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan 2022' at the Guru Gobind Singh Stadium in Jalandhar on Monday.
The Punjab government organises the 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan' with the objective of connecting people of all ages with sports.
Notably, CM Bhagwant Mann reached Jalandhar at 4 PM, as planned, to kick off the event. However, when rains battered the city on the day and disrupted scheduled events, the Punjab CM and other VIPs were forced to wait. Rains flooded the Guru Gobind Singh Stadium in Jalandhar, drenching the sofas and seats on the stage.
Meanwhile, all routes around Guru Gobind Singh Stadium were diverted in light of the opening ceremony of the mega sports event.
Furthermore, Olympians took part in a special baton march during the mega sporting event. The mashal march included as many as 16 Olympians and Arjuna awardees. Baljit Singh Dhillon, Simranjit Singh Kaur Chakkar, Rajinder Singh Rahelu, Manjit Kaur, Vikas Thakur, Gurjit Kaur, Damneet Singh Mann, Swarn Singh Virk, Sukhpal Singh Pali, Harpreet Singh Happy, Suman Sharma, Pranav Chopra and Gurpreet Singh participated in the ceremony.
