Punjab Budget session begins with obituary references; proceedings resume with Question Hour
Chandigarh, June 24: The Budget Session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly began on Friday with obituary references. It will conclude on June 27, when the AAP government in Punjab would present its maiden Budget. On the first day of the session, tributes were paid to the departed souls, including Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. After 13 minutes, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till 2 pm. The House proceedings resumed with Question Hour. The House also paid tributes to freedom fighters Swarn Singh, Crora Singh and Sukhraj Singh Sandhawalia. Ganeive Kaur Majithia also made her maiden appearance in the House. Among Congress MLAs, those conspicuous by their absence were Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa and Rana Gurjit Singh, besides independent MLA Rana Inderbir Singh. Earlier, AAP MLA Jai Kishan Rori suggested to the House that the name of social activist Principal Surinder Singh should also be included in the obituary references. The suggestion was accepted by Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan. CM Bhagwant Mann has announced that from July, every household will get 300 units of electricity free of cost.
