Punjab: Actor Sonu Sood booked for violating EC orders; released on bail
Moga, February 22: A case has been registered against film actor Sonu Sood under Section 188 of the IPC at the Moga police station City I for violating the orders of the Election Commission. However, he was later released on bail. Sonu Sood's sister Malvika Sood is Congress' candidate from Moga constituency. Sonu Sood had been actively campaigning for her in Moga for the last several days. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) lodged a complaint against him with the Election Commission accusing the actor of trying to influence the voters. The ECI also impounded Sonu Sood’s car to stop him from going to various booths after a complaint by the Shiromani Akali Dal. According to reports, he was asked by EC officials to stay at his place. Following the allegations, actor Sonu Sood alleged that other candidates in the Moga constituency were "buying votes."
