Weather update: Rain lashed several parts of Punjab and Chandigarh on Friday. According to the Meteorological Department, districts like Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala are likely to experience light to moderate rain on Saturday.
The weather in Punjab remained pleasant due to Friday's rain, keeping the state's temperature normal. However, the state is experiencing a rainfall deficit this season. Punjab received 24% less rain (275.6 mm) in three months of the four-month (June-September) monsoon season.
Punjab typically receives 385.8 mm of rainfall by this time of year, but only 299.2 mm have been recorded so far. Similarly, Chandigarh, which usually gets 754.2 mm of rain, has only received 460.2 mm this season.
