Weather update: Heavy rainfall is likely in parts of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh for the next five days.
"Heavy rainfall is expected in the following locations during specific periods: Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh, Punjab, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh," according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to IMD Chandigarh, moderate rain is very likely over parts of Sangrur, Barnala, Patiala, S.A.S Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Rupnagar, Moga, Firozepur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, SBS Nagar on Thursday.
The IMD predicts that Northwest and East India will receive heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the next five days.
According to the official statement, IMD predicts widespread light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning throughout Northwest and Central India over the next five days.
Some places, including Himachal Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, may see isolated very heavy to extremely high rainfall on various occasions in early July.
