Tragedy strikes Punjab's Mansa family; their daughter Manpreet dies on flight from Australia to India
PTC Web Desk: Punjab's Mansa family who lost their 24-year-old daughter Manpreet Kaur during a flight to India are grieving her loss and preparing to travel to Australia for her funeral. She experienced a medical emergency shortly after boarding a Qantas flight at Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport on June 20 and passed away.
One of the close relatives of Manpreet Kaur shared that the family is now working on the necessary paperwork to travel to Melbourne in Australia for the funeral. "We were on our way to New Delhi airport to welcome Manpreet Kaur when we received the heartbreaking news of her death," her relatives were quoted as saying.
A man who was sitting next to Kaur was reported as saying that she was looking through pictures on her phone as they waited for the plane to take off. She was scrolling through photos on her cellphone and suddenly stopped at a photograph of a couple. The man asked if they were her parents; and she nodded with a smile and kept looking at the photo. Soon, she died. The cause of her death is stated to be TB, but no official statement has been issued so far.
Manpreet Kaur had been residing in Melbourne since 2020. It is learnt that she had been dealing with health issues in recent months, particularly respiratory problems following her recovery from Covid-19. She had reportedly difficulty speaking over the phone and was eagerly waiting to reunite with her family after four years.
It is learnt that the Australian government cannot repatriate Manpreet Kaur's body to India at this time due to the ongoing coroner's investigation into the cause of her death.
Qantas Airlines also confirmed that Manpreet Kaur required medical attention shortly after boarding, and despite urgent assistance from the crew and emergency services, she died.
She is survived by her parents in Punjab's Mansa district and a brother who recently relocated to the United States.
