Tarn Taran: Cross-firing between police and gangsters; two injured

PTC Web Desk: A fierce encounter broke out between Punjab Police personnel and gangsters in Tarn Taran, Punjab, resulting in the injury of two assailants. The police retaliated after the accused opened fire while attempting to escape. Both accused were immediately taken to the hospital, where their condition is reported to be stable.

According to officials, the accused have been identified as Robinjeet Singh and Harpreet Singh alias Happy. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said a police team attempted to apprehend the duo, but they attacked the officials in an attempt to flee. The police, acting in self-defense, returned fire, injuring both suspects.


During the operation, the police seized two hand grenades, one pistol, and live cartridges from the accused. Initial investigations have revealed that the gang was operating under the directives of gangster Lakhbir Singh Landa, who is based abroad.

It is learnt that the accused were working at the behest of Gurdev Singh alias Jassal Jhabal (USA), Lakhbir Singh alias Landa, and Satnam Singh alias Satta Naushera (Canada). 

The Tarn Taran police have registered an FIR and initiated further investigation to identify the outfits linked to the accused.
