Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh resigns; cites threats and false allegations by Valtoha
PTC Web Desk: Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib has submitted his resignation, citing threats and defamatory remarks as the primary reasons. He attributed his decision to the derogatory comments and accusations made by Virsa Singh Valtoha, who was expelled from the primary membership of the Shiromani Akali Dal on Tuesday. Valtoha had reportedly used terms like "BJP and RSS agent" and levelled baseless allegations against Giani Harpreet Singh.
Giani Harpreet Singh said he and his family had been facing constant threats, adding further pressure to his decision. In his resignation, Giani Harpreet Singh expressed gratitude to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for allowing him to serve in the role. He also appealed to both Punjab Central governments to withdraw the security provided to him.
Giani Harpreet Singh sought forgiveness from the Sikh community, expressing regret over any distress his resignation may have caused to the community members.
