Surjit Patar birth anniversary: Punjab govt to establish Centre for Ethical AI in memory of late poet
PTC News Desk: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday announced Centre for Ethical AI will be established at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. The announcement was made at an event to commemorate birth anniversary of Padma Shri Punjabi poet Surjit Patar.
CM Mann while highlighting the need for technology to archive and preserve the writing of legendary writers and poets of Punjab including Surjit Patar, said that the government will provide budget and potential infrastructure for the establishment.
The chief minister also announced that the state government will confer an award in the name of Surjit Patar for rising Punjabi poets.
During the event where Patar's family was also present, CM Mann reminisced the moments spent with late Dr.Patar. While remembering his significant contribution to Punjab heritage, CM Mann highlighted that an award will also be conferred to the the budding poets of Punjab.
Guru Nanak Dev University, in collaboration with Punjab Kala Parishad in Chandigarh and Department of Languages in Punjab’s Patiala, had extended an open invitation to poets, writers and intellectuals to attend the 2025 Surjit Patar Memorial Ceremony being held at the Golden Jubilee Convention Centre in the campus today.
