Surinder Shinda death: Mortal remains of legendary Punjabi singer consigned to flames

Surinder Shinda's death: Punjab and the Punjabi community bid a tearful adieu to the legendary Punjabi singer Surinder Shinda on Saturday, as his mortal remains were consigned to flames.

His mortal remains were carried in a truck decorated with flowers. The poignant cremation ceremony took place at the Model Town Extension cremation ground in Ludhiana.


Surinder Shinda passed away on Wednesday, July 26 at a hospital in Ludhiana after a brief illness.

Surinder Shinda, born Surinder Pal Dhammi in Jalandhar, Punjab, on May 20, 1954, has made an unforgettable impression on the Punjabi music industry with his soulful and strong voice. He brought many songs to life and captivated audiences with his unique style and spellbinding performances.

Putt Jattan De, Jatt Deona Morh, and Truck Balliya were all hit songs by the late Punjabi vocalist. Throughout his singing career, he delivered several popular songs and appeared in several Punjabi films, including Putt Jattan De, Ucha Dar Babe Nanak Da, and Badla Jatti Da. Surinder Shinda is survived by his son Maninder Shinda.
