Sukhbir Singh Badal begins religious penance at Sri Darbar Sahib with plaque around neck, spear in hand
PTC News Desk: A day after Sri Akal Takht Sahib issued directives, Sukhbir Singh Badal was seen sitting in a wheelchair undergoing religious penance or sewa at Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar. While undertaking punishment, he was seen sitting in a wheelchair by the gate with a plaque around his neck and spear in his hand.
Earlier on Monday, Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Raghubir Singh announced a series of religious punishments for prominent leaders, including former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. According to the religious directives, Sukhbir Singh Badal, along with other key members of the SAD, including former ministers and members of the SGPC, would undergo a significant punishment for their roles in the controversial decisions.
Three months after Sukhbir Singh Badal was declared tankhaiya for religious misconduct during his tenure from 2007 to 2017 by Akal Takht, the working committee has been directed to accept the resignation of Sukhbir Singh Badal as party president and submit the report. Jathedar also ordered the working committee to hold elections for position of SAD president and office-bearers within six months.
