'I was alert' says cop who thwarted assassination attempt at Sukhbir Singh Badal
PTC News Desk: Punjab Police assistant sub-inspector Jasbir Singh revealed details about the firing incident which targeted Sukhbir Singh Badal. He said that the shooter's actions made things clear.
“We can't frisk anyone there, nor can we stop anyone. So, when he (Narain Singh Chaura) came there, I was standing alert. Looking at him, everything became clear,” Jasbir Singh said.

He further added that they were already debriefed about the security and made sure that nothing wrong would happen while maintaining the decorum of Darbar Sahib. Amritsar police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar also held in high regard the alertness of the police which thwarted the assassination attempt.
The incident was captured in CCTV of the premises which showed the accused slowly moving towards Sukhbir Singh Badal's wheelchair meanwhile pulling out gun from his pocket and aimed. Prompt response by the security personnel deployed in the security averted the tragedy and grabbed the attacker's hands. During the scuffle, a bullet hit the walls behind Badal who escaped unhurt.
