PTC Web Desk: A controversial video showing an impersonator dressed as Guru Nanak Dev Ji has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism. The person, seen adopting Guru Nanak Dev Ji's attire and carrying a staff, reportedly allowed people to bow before him. The incident has been criticised for hurting religious sentiments. Sikh leaders and activists have demanded strict action against him.

Earlir, Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, called the act deeply disrespectful. Sarbjit Singh Sonu Jandiala, chairman of the Punjab BC Cell and a Sikh social worker, has also lodged a formal complaint with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney in Amritsar, accusing the impersonator of deliberately hurting religious sentiments.

Sarbjit Singh said the incident occurred in Madhya Pradesh, where the impersonator dressed in robes resembling those of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, held a staff, and seated himself in a manner similar to Guru’s depictions. "This act is blatantly offensive, as the impersonator positioned himself on a par with Guru Granth Sahib Ji, which is unacceptable. The viral video clearly shows the impersonator encouraging people to bow before him," he added.

A memorandum has been submitted to the Amritsar DC, demanding immediate action against the impersonator for insulting Sikh sentiments.

The Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh, has also strongly criticised the incident, calling for stringent measures to prevent such acts in the future.
