Punjab: Shiv Sena leader Sandeep Thapar attacked in Ludhiana | Watch
Ludhiana, July 5: Sandeep Thapar, alias Gora, a prominent leader of the Shiv Sena (Punjab), was allegedly attacked with swords by three persons who came dressed as Nihangs near the Civil Hospital in Ludhiana on Friday. He sustained severe head injuries. Gora was taken to the Ludhiana Civil Hospital, from where he was referred to DMC Hospital.
Sandeep Thapar, alias Gora, is known for his outspoken stance against Khalistan and terrorism in Punjab. It is learnt that he was also quite vocal against the farmers' agitation in the region. The attack has been captured on video by some bystanders.
As per information, Sandeep Thapar, alias Gora, was accompanied by a gunman at the time of the attack. According to the gunman, the attackers overpowered him and attempted to seize his weapon.
Following the attack, a large group of Hindu leaders gathered at DMC Hospital.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jaskiranjit Singh Teja said an attempt to murder case had been filed against unidentified persons, and police teams had been formed to arrest the suspects.
