PTC News Desk: In a major update , SGPC rejects bill passed by Punjab Assembly to amend Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925 A.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami at a press conference on Tuesday rejected the Bill passed by Punjab Assembly in Punjab Vidhan Sabha today to amend Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925 A.

Harjinder Singh Dhami said, “Punjab Government attacked the nation after 103 years. The government started occupying Gurdwaras in Punjab from today. This day is a black day in Sikh history.”

Taking a jibe at Punjab Government led by Bhawant Mann, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said, "Shiromani Committee has been attacked on the pretext of Gurbani. The Sikh community will never tolerate such bullying."

Notably, earlier during the second day of the special session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, the Sikh Gurdwara (Sodh) Bill 2023 was unanimously passed, despite objections from members of the Akali Dal. The bill had previously received approval from the Punjab government and was presented for debate in the Assembly.
