SGPC rejects Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami’s resignation, urges him to reconsider
PTC Web Desk: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) held an executive meeting today in Chandigarh, where the resignation of president advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami was officially rejected. The committee decided that all members would visit Advocate Dhami’s residence to persuade him to resume his responsibilities.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, SGPC members confirmed that no other decisions were made during the session. The committee remains hopeful that Advocate Dhami would withdraw his resignation. This was the first SGPC meeting since the removal of Jathedars.
Several senior leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) have already met Advocate Dhami at his residence, but he has refused to reconsider his decision. However, SGPC members believe that his tenure has been successful.
The SGPC’s budget session is also scheduled for March 28, and as per the Gurdwara Act, the session must be presided over by the SGPC president. This legal requirement indicates that Advocate Dhami may have no choice but to assume his role for the session.
