SGPC Chief Harjinder Singh Dhami undergoes 'religious punishment' over remarks against Bibi Jagir Kaur
PTC News Desk: Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee President Harjinder Singh Dhami underwent religious punishment for using derogatory remarks against former SGPC Chief Bibi Jagir Kaur.
SGPC Chief Dhami appeared before Akal Takht on Wednesday and held a meeting with Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh who then directed him to undergo religious punishment for his outburst. Akal Takht ordered him to wash dishes at the langar hall and clean the shoes of the devotees at the ‘jodha ghar’ for an hour each.
After compliance, Dhami recited the prayers and performed ‘ardas’.
Trouble mounted for SGPC chief after an audio of him purportedly using derogatory words against Kaur surfaced. Dhami's remarks sparked controversy followed by a summon by Punjab State Women Commission. Dhami then submitted a written explanation a day after he tendered unconditional apology and sought forgiveness at Akal Takht.
