PTC Web Desk: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is set to hold its general house meeting on Friday to present the budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal. However, the session is expected to be turbulent due to ongoing controversy over the appointment and removal of Takht Jathedars.
Several Sikh organisations, including Damdami Taksal, Sant Samaj, and Nihang groups, have planned a 'rosh march' (protest march) toward the SGPC headquarters. They are demanding a reversal of the recent appointments and the reinstatement of previous Jathedars. Protest banners have been displayed, urging Sikh activists to join the demonstration.
This meeting will be the first after SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami withdrew his resignation. The agenda includes discussions on gurdwara management, education, healthcare, and a key resolution on the appointment, jurisdiction, and removal of Takht Jathedars.
