‘Sarbat Khalsa’: Punjab Police cancels leaves of all cops till April 14
Chandigarh, April 7: The Punjab Police have cancelled and prohibited leaves of all police personnel till April 14 citing high alert in state for Baisakhi 2023.
The order issued by Office of the Director General of Police, Punjab, Chandigarh reads, “No. 2331-2430/E-3(1) dated 06.04.2023 (.) Regarding Stoppage of leaves (.) No leave may please be sanctioned to GOS, NGOs and EPOS till 14.04.2023 (.) All kinds of leaves sanctioned previously stand cancelled forthwith (.) This is being issued with the directions of W/DGP, Punjab (.)”
As per the sources, the leaves of all police personnel have been cancelled after radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh sought a meeting of the Sikhs later this month.

Notably, for the first time since March 18, when the police launched a massive crackdown against the Waris Punjab De head, Amritpal Singh on Wednesday released a video "calling upon the Sikh sangat to come together if they want to save Punjab". In the video, he said he is not in police custody. Amritpal claimed that he was absolutely fine and nothing could harm him.
He urged Sikh sangat to join the Sarbat Khalsa campaign in Punjab's Bathinda on the occasion of Baisakhi on April 14 if they wanted to save Punjab.
