Sangrur clash: Tension arose in Sangrur as police allegedly thrashed professors who were marching towards Chief Minister Mann's residence. The demonstrators from 1158 Assistant Professors and Librarians Front Punjab were demanding the appointment of the remaining 411 candidates.

Several male professors' turbans fell during the clash, while many female professors also fell. Visuals from the scene also showed female professors falling to the ground, shoes spread, highlighting the chaos at the scene.

Leaders of the 1158 Assistant Professors and Librarians Front Punjab claimed that they planned to peacefully surround CM Bhagwant Mann's residence to voice their demands. Leader Balwinder Chahal accused the administration of being anti-educational, claiming that professors who educate the children of commoners were mistreated while battling for their rightful appointments.

The demonstrators pointed out that on September 23, 2024, the Punjab and Haryana High Court directed that recruitment be completed. While more than 600 assistant professors have been appointed, 411 candidates are still awaiting appointments.

Organisations such as Bharati Kisan Union Ugrahan, Bhaqiu Dakounda, Democratic Teachers Front Punjab, All India Students Federation, Students Federation of India, PSU-Shaheed Randhawa, and others expressed strong support for the 1158 front, while speakers severely attacked the government.
