Red Alert in Chandigarh: List of roads to be avoided due to waterlogging
Red Alert in Chandigarh: Records were broken as heavy rain lashed many areas of North India over the past two days.
IMD also issued Red Alert for Chandigarh, Panchkula (Haryana) and Mohali (Punjab).
As incessant rain continues to lash in Chandigarh and nearby areas, Chandigarh Traffic Police issued traffic advisory and issued the list of roads to be avoided due to waterlogging.

Chandigarh Traffic Police took to its official Twitter handle and wrote, “The general public is being informed that due to rain there is #WaterLogging issue at Makhan Majra Road near the bridge & road from both sides of bridge on Village Makhan majra towards Zirakpur side has been closed and the traffic is being diverted from this point.”
Commuters are advised not to commute towards this stretch of road & adopt an alternative route till the time water logging issue is resolved, Chandigarh Traffic Police added.

Chandigarh Traffic Police also informed commuters that a tree has fallen at Kachha Rasta Dhanas. Traffic diverted from 66 KV light point PGI towards kachha Rasta Dhanas. Police are on the job. XEN Horticulture has been apprised and teams are on the job.
Chandigarh Traffic Police also informed general public that Both Gate of Sukhna Lake Regulator end are opened and the water from Sukhna lake is being released in Sukhna chow due to which roads are closed for traffic movement.
Notably, Chandigarh has witnessed the highest 24-hour rainfall in July, breaking a nearly 23-year-old record. The city experienced its highest-ever rainfall for this season in a single day.
