Rahul Gandhi not expressing any remorse for gruesome attack on Sri Darbar Sahib is shocking: SAD
Chandigarh, January 17: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Tuesday expressed shock that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi did not feel any remorse for the gruesome attack on Sri Darbar Sahib and genocide of Sikhs engineered by the Congress party in 1984.
In a statement here, senior SAD leader Dr Daljeet Singh Cheema said it was shocking that Rahul Gandhi refused to answer a question on the twin issues during a press conference today and chose to hide behind former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Asking Rahul Gandhi to clarify his stand Dr Cheema said “please also put any apology made by Sonia Gandhi on these twin issues in public domain as the world at large is ignorant of the same”.

Dr Cheema said it was also condemnable that Rahul Gandhi had maintained a studious silence on the issue of SYL Canal during his yatra in Punjab. “Punjabis expected Rahul Gandhi to understand the pain of their beloved State being turned into a desert due to the erstwhile dictatorial decisions of his family which gave away Punjab waters to other states. But instead of realising this and making amends Rahul Gandhi has made it clear that he stands with the past policies of the Congress party which have robbed Punjab of its river waters. Rahul Gandhi failed to lend solidarity to Punjab’s stand that it had an inalienable right over its river waters being a riparian state. This has exposed the true intentions of the Congress party”, Dr Cheema added.
Dr Cheema also condemned Rahul for going in for gimmickry and indulging in photo ops instead of addressing key issues of Punjab. “These include his stand in transfer of Chandigarh to Punjab as well as repatriation of Punjabi speaking areas in Haryana back to the State”.
