Punjab women’s commission takes action in Jalandhar sexual assault case; accused arrested

Jalandhar, September 12: The Punjab State Women Commission has taken swift action after a media report highlighted the case of a 20-year-old woman working in the postal department who went missing and was later found unconscious by the Delhi Police. The woman, who was allegedly sexually assaulted, was eventually brought back to her home in Jalandhar, Punjab,  by her family with the assistance of the police.

Punjab State Women Commission chairperson Raj Lali Gill took serious notice of the incident after it was reported in the media. She promptly issued a notice to the Jalandhar Police, instructing them to take strict action in the matter. Following this, the police moved swiftly and arrested the accused, identified as Balwinder Singh.


Raji Lali Gill personally spoke with the victim's family and assured them of full support. She reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety and dignity of women in the state.
