Punjab will soon be hub of healthcare, medical education: CM Bhagwant Mann

Jagraon, November 1: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday announced to strengthen  government healthcare infrastructure across the state in order to provide state-of-the-art medical treatment and diagnostic services to people.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, while addressing the gathering after dedicating newly built mother and child care hospital in Jagraon on Tuesday, said "We had promised a guarantee of quality health care to the people of the state and we are making all efforts in this regard." 


He said efforts were being made to equip government hospitals with ultramodern facilities. Bhagwant Mann said a massive recruitment drive had been launched to fill all vacant posts in the health department. 

The Punjab Chief Minister said besides upgrading the existing government hospitals with the latest facilities, focus was being laid on opening of new hospitals.  He said Punjab would soon be a hub of healthcare and medical education. 


Bhagwant Mann said 16 new medical colleges would be constructed in the coming five years, thereby enhancing the total tally of medical colleges to 25. 

He said the newly constructed mother and child hospitals would act as a catalyst to impart quality health care to pregnant women and newly born children.

He said the move was aimed at ensuring that people received quality health services in these hospitals. Bhagwant Mann said more such hospitals would be constructed across the state in the coming days. 

The Chief Minister further that the prestigious G-20 summit, scheduled to be held in Amritsar in March 2023, would promote Punjab as a preferred destination for business on the international level. He said the summit would also provide a platform to the government to showcase its achievements and facilities for setting up new businesses. 

Earlier, MLA, Jagroan, Sarvjit Kaur Manuke welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
