Punjab weather update: Heavy rain predicted in parts of state; yellow alert issued in Himachal
Punjab Weather update: Heavy rainfall lashed parts of Punjab on Thursday. Heavy downpour was accompanied by strong winds, providing relief from the heat. However, roads have flooded as a result of the rain, causing significant traffic disruption.
According to the Indian Metrological Department, light rain is expected in parts of Barnala, Sangrur, Patiala, S.A.S Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Bathinda, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Faridkot, Fazilka, Ludhiana, CHANDIGARH, Rupnagar, Moga, Firozepur. Jalandhar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, SBS Nagar, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Pathankot are also likely to receive heavy rainfall on Thursday.
In Himachal Pradesh, the local Met office has issued a yellow alert of heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning at isolated areas of 10 districts.
Meanwhile, severe waterlogging and traffic congestion were reported in many parts of Delhi after heavy rain fell on Thursday morning. Waterlogging has impacted travel in the areas.
