Punjab Weather | Punjab witnessed a significant shift in its weather dynamics. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast, indicating the imminent arrival of a fresh western disturbance. The weather forecasts issued a heavy rain alert, signaling a notable shift in the state's weather dynamics and disturbances is expected to usher a four-day spell of rain and thundershowers. 

Orange Alert issued in Punjab 

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall, hailstones, thunderstorms and windy waves in 17 districts of Punjab — Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangrur, Rupnagar, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala.

Meanwhile, yellow alert has been also issued in five districts of Punjab—Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Bathinda, and Mansa. These areas may experience rain, hail, and strong winds, along with a drop in temperature. 

Rain lashes several parts of Punjab 

On Monday evening, Chandigarh and several parts of Punjab and Haryana experienced gusty weather following heavy rainfall and a hailstorm. According to the weather office's two-day forecast, similar weather conditions are expected to persist in Chandigarh, Punjab, and Haryana today as well.

Meanwhile residents welcomed the rain and said that it would give some relief to the farmers and also reduce pollution in the city. Residents of the tricity witnessed cloudy skies, thunderstorms, rainfall, and brisk winds over the next four days. 

Additionally, IMD authorities have issued cautions regarding possible thunderstorm occurrences across various areas spanning Haryana and Punjab, with the upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh expected to experience fresh snowfall.
