Punjab weather: Heavy rains to lash Punjab, Chandigarh & Haryana; orange alert issued
Punjab Weather: Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for several states due to the continuous rain in many parts of India. The weather department has issued an orange alert for Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.
Ajay Kumar Singh, a Meteorological Department officer, stated that the monsoon in the country is fully active and has arrived in Punjab and Haryana before time.
Until Sunday, heavy to very heavy rain is expected across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi.
“There is also a chance of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall occurring in the western Himalayan region, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and Rajasthan from July 8-10. Also, Uttar Pradesh is likely to see rainfall for the next five days," IMD said.
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is unlikely in the region beginning July 11.
Throughout Saturday and Sunday, the IMD issued a warning for isolated extremely heavy rain across Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
“...Himachal Pradesh may experience extremely heavy rainfall on July 9 while Uttarakhand is expected to receive heavy rainfall on the same day,” IMD said.
Heavy to extremely heavy rain is forecast in isolated regions of Jammu and Kashmir until Monday, as well as in eastern Rajasthan on Sunday.
Heavy rain is forecasted for the next five days in Odisha, Bihar from July 9 to 12, Jharkhand on July 11 and 12, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands until July 10.
