Punjab weather: Heavy rainfall likely over next 2 days; orange alert issued
Punjab Weather: An orange alert has been issued for Punjab with the prediction of heavy rainfall over the next two days, June 30 and July 1.
The monsoon is likely to sweep across Punjab in two days, according to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Chandigarh centre.
“The monsoon entered the state yesterday in Pathankot and is expected to spread to the other parts of the state in more waves,” IMD Chandigarh director Ajay Kumar Singh stated.
Moreover, Punjab can expect relief from the prolonged heatwaves, as meteorological experts anticipate temperatures will no longer exceed 40° Celsius. "With the onset of the monsoon, the temperature is not expected to cross 40° Celsius," said Singh.
Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rain is expected across the national capital this weekend, according to the India Meteorological Department.
In its meteorological bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that a thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 kmph is highly likely this weekend in isolated areas of Delhi and surrounding states.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas around Delhi on June 29 and 30.
