Punjab: Two children drown in Beas in Batala
Two kids drowned: A pall of gloom descended on the Dhirowal Village in Batala after the news of drowning of two children in river spreads village.
In an unfortunate, horrific and heartbreaking incident, two children of Batala’s Dhirowal Village drowned to death in Beas River.

If reports were to be believed, children went to see rain drain water at Shri Hargobindpura of Gurdaspur and due to the rapid flow of river water, the children washed away while playing at the river side.
The deceased have been identified as Jaskaran Singh (14 years)son of Baldev Singh and Dilpreet Singh (13 years), son of Hardev Singh.
When the two kids did not returned back to home till late evening, family members started looking for their kids and also informed rescue and administration teams. During the research operation, the bodies of children have been recovered .
Divulging details about the unfortunate incident, DSP Rajesh Kakkar said that the bodies of children were taken into possession and an investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Agarwal said that the District Administration prohibited visiting the rivers, canals etc.
He also appealed that the residents of the district that they should take care of themselves and also explain to their children that they should not go towards the flood water at all.
Notably, several areas of Punjab such as Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Batala is facing flood-like situation following the release of excess water from the dams.
Several parts of the Punjab’s district have been inundated following the release of excess water from the Bhakra and the Pong dams, thus disrupting the normal life of people of Punjab.

Meanwhile, in Gurdaspur, a collective effort involving the Army, BSF, and NDRF personnel has been deployed, addressing the floodwaters encroaching upon villages. The town's connectivity has been severed, as the Mukerian bridge has been shut to traffic due to the deluge. The Gurdaspur-Mukerian link road has suffered significant damage due to the overflowing waters.
