Punjab: Seven suspects arrested from Aurangabad in Ferozepur triple murder case
PTC Web Desk: In a major breakthrough, the Punjab Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and the Aurangabad Police have arrested seven suspects involved in the recent triple murder in Punjab's Ferozepur. The suspects were apprehended in a joint operation carried out in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, based on intelligence provided by the AGTF.
The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday near Gurdwara Akalgarh Sahib in Ferozepur, where three cousins—Dildeep, Aakashdeep, and Jaspreet Kaur—were brutally murdered in broad daylight. The victims, aged between 25 and 28, were residents of Kamboj Nagar in Ferozepur city. Post-mortem reports revealed that the bodies bore nearly 50 bullet wounds, with most of the shots targeted at their heads. The bullets were fired from 30-bore pistols.
The murders, believed to be a result of gang rivalry, took place in a busy area of the city, posing a significant challenge for the police. While the arrests of the seven suspects mark a major step in the investigation, the police continue to grapple with the increasing presence of illegal firearms in the region, many of which are smuggled across the border.
The Punjab Police had been closely tracking the suspects, who were found travelling in a Maharashtra-registered Innova car in a village near Aurangabad. Acting on the tip-off, Aurangabad Crime Branch and Quick Response Team (QRT) surrounded and arrested the suspects. A team from Punjab Police is en route to bring the accused back for further interrogation and legal proceedings.
