Punjab: Sacrilege incident at printing press of Bhai Chatar Singh Jeevan Singh in Amritsar
Amritsar, February 22: The sacrilege of 'Gutka Sahibs', 'Pothis' and other religious books of the Sikhism has come to the fore at the printing press of Bhai Chatar Singh Jeevan Singh in the holy city of Amritsar.
As per information, Satkar Committee along with the SGPC and administration team on Wednesday made a surprise visit to the printing press of Bhai Chatar Singh Jeevan Singh in Amritsar and found empty liquor bottles, tobacco and cigarettes at the spot where printed 'Gutka Sahib' pages were kept.
Members of the Satkar Committee said they along with a team of the administration visited the printing press and saw that 'Gutka Sahib' and other religious books were being "desecrated". The committee has sought a strict legal action against the publishers.
SHO Shivdarshan Singh said they had received a complaint and investigation was underway. Appropriate legal action would be taken.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Sikh organisations and members of the SGPC and Satkar Committee have forced the closure of the printing press of Bhai Chatar Singh Jeevan Singh after the sacrilege came to the fore.
Members of the Satkar Committee said work of printing of 'Gutka Sahib' had been going on for a long time at Bhai Chatar Singh Jeevan Singh printing press. One of the committee members Manjit Singh received information about "indecencies" at the printing press.
According to information, migrant labourers had been engaged in the printing work. 'Gutka' and alcohol were also consumed at this press. Packets of 'beedi' were also found.
The printing press has been locked for now.
