Punjab revokes night duty exemption for women doctors, staff nurses with kids under 18 months

PTC Web Desk: The Punjab Government has announced a significant policy change affecting women doctors and staff nurses in the state. Effective immediately, the exemption from night duty earlier granted to women doctors and staff nurses with children under 18 months has been revoked.

Under the earlier policy, healthcare professionals with young children were relieved from night shifts to support working mothers. However, this decision to withdraw such concessions is expected to have a considerable impact on those balancing their professional responsibilities with childcare.

As of now, the government has not provided specific reasons for this policy change, leaving many concerned about its implications for working mothers in the healthcare sector.
